(IA) Pieces of Vlad (with mini story)
Insomniart because I drew it when I was still on my sleepless rampage recently xD
I have been wanting to draw this for a long time now, and once
Psyvyll gave a shout bringing it up, I knew it was time! So thanks dude, for giving me the nudge of motivation I needed ;D!
Here we have the two creatures that my character Vlad assimilated into himself, creating his belly maw and his tail maw. Snuggles the Derprantula, and Balladso, the singing Walrus!
The next time you look at Vlad, take close looks at these two, and see which parts of him he got from which creature :3.
Of course this raises a strange question.... just what did Vlad look like *before* he assimilated these two owo? Hmmm....
Also, Mini Story, written like a Newspaper Clipping:
"THE KALTROSS TIMES--- TWO FAMOUS ZOO ANIMALS VANISH FROM INFIRMARY!!"
It was a sad morning today when the zookeepers at the Kaltross City Park of Animal Wonders went to check on two of the city's most beloved (and estranged) animals, Snuggles the Derprantula and Balladso the singing walrus, only to find them missing.
The two unique creatures had gotten very sick during the winter storm that tore through the region a week ago, and had been being kept and treated in the zoo's high-tech infirmary ever since, the best veterinarians from the nation working as hard as they could to nurse them back to health. Reports indicated that the two were in a steady state of decline, despite the vets' best efforts, because they were simply so unique, their bodies far different than those of their average brethren. It had been looking very grim for the friendly giant spider, Snuggles, and the jovial singing Walrus, Balladso, and vets and fans alike had feared the worst.
What happened, however, was not what everyone had feared--- in fact, it was worse.
At exactly six-hundred hours this morning, November 12th, 2010, vets went inside the high-security infirmary to tend to Snuggles and Balladso, and found the two one-of-a-kind animals missing without a trace. The police were called in immediately, and a search party was formed to comb the zoo and surrounding areas for the city's beloved animal friends, but not a single trace was found.
Detective Alvin Squarejaw of the Kaltross City Police Department's 8th Precinct was there with his assistant Murican Hawtty and was kind enough to give us some information on this mysterious case.
"Well, the funny thing is, there was no forced entry into the zoo's infirmary. All the doors were still locked, and everything was secure," said Squarejaw. "This is a super high-tech facility with the latest security technology in place, so it almost had to be an inside job. Somebody with access could've done it, probably thinking they could somehow save the two animals instead of the master veterinarians, maybe an activist, we're not sure. But, well, there was something written on the wall in there, our only clue..."
At this time, Murican Hawtty, the Detective's assistant, stepped forwards, saying something that seemed completely arbitrary.
"We also want to take this time to reassure everyone that the rumors about dimensional rips appearing and strange aliens with glowing pink eyes coming out of them are entirely false. It's all just rumors, nothing more."
Though that had seemed to come from out of nowhere, and seemed irrelevant at the time, once our reporters were allowed a look inside the Infirmary of the Kaltross City Park of Animal Wonders, and we were allowed to see the strange writing on the wall that Detective Squarejaw had mentioned, it suddenly seemed connected. The words on the wall, which looked to have been carved by a blade or claw, read:
"You could not save them. So I did--- Vlad."
With an intriguing and tragic mystery now plaguing the minds of Snuggles and Balladso's loving zookeepers and fans, the city sinks into mourning. The lovable Derprantula and singing Walrus may never be found, and with as ill as they were before their disappearance, it will undoubtedly be too late when this "Vlad" character who stole them is found.
Detective Squarejaw assured everyone, however, that he and his team would not rest until the case was solved, and the criminal who stole the poor animals caught and punished for his crime....

Heheh, I tried to hint at things more than anything, but it's because they were sick and not going to make it. Vlad was a fan of Snuggles and Balladso, and knew he could keep them alive in a fashion-- could save them-- by assimilating them. So in a real way, he saved their lives. They live as part of him now, but still have their own minds :3 Without Vlad, they would have died.
