Well i went to an SCA event with the moo and there was a vendor (or as they call a merchant) who was selling drinking horns, leather, fur pelts and ofcourse tails of many types of animal, sadly (maybe not so sadly) none of the tails or hides were from any felines, just bunnies, cow, pig, racoon, a skunk even as well as a number of fox tails. I got a small drinking horn and a pretty fox tail.

Stop now while you're still ahead. XDDD
I bought my first fox tail back in 2011 at a convention. Now I have 13 tails, four fox pelts, one coyote pelt, two fox soft mounts, one raccoon soft mount, and one rabbit soft mount, as well as a number of other random fur scraps I have lying around.
I'm addicted. So much money spent XD

I would like to think i do. so many people know the guy who sells this stuff, he is an old timer who only gets humanly hunted animals to process, they come to him with left overs, like hides and such and he does what needs to be done before he can sell it, i asked him before i bought it if and how he got them and he told me no animal was just poorly hunted for sport, they were either killed for lameness, disease, or because they attacked a human, some of the animals were even found just already dead. He hand raises the cattle and bunnies himself and he gives all his animals long full lives. I wouldn't buy such a thing unless i knew this and trusted everyone that backed him up to. The SCA is not like the other places that sells things like this and i do know what you mean, i wouldn't support those other ones.
