Commission for
hotwert, a 50x70 cm painting which is the largest commission I've done so far. Thank you so much for the great chance!
Working in such a large format again was refreshing and allowed several techniques which I can't seem to do well in smaller formats, but I guess it's just a matter of practice. Did more work on landscape design too.

Thank you! All my oil paintings are traditional oils, I haven't tried the water soluble oils but I see no reason to do so since I'm ok with the drying time of traditional oils. I mix the paints without adding any extra oil and I don't use impasto so it usually takes less than a week for the painting to be dry to the touch. At that point I apply a special varnish which can be used as soon as the surface is dry and in a few more days the picture is ready to ship.
That would be great, I'd love to see more anthro paintings around. The drying time might depend on the paint brand too but mostly it depends on how it's used, and the good thing about oils is they can be used in many different ways. I really wanted to make oil commissions in reasonable times so for now my choice of techniques revolves around getting the shortest possible drying time. There are even special mediums which can be mixed with the paint to make it dry overnight, although I prefer to play it safe and stick to pure paint only. Once I feel a bit more confident I'll probably make some kind of tutorial to describe my process in detail.
I look forward to seeing such a tutorial, once you're ready to work on it! I do enjoy your paintings quite a lot, so seeing how you bring them together would be wonderful. I'm quite sure I'd learn a few things.
I also look forward to sharing my work with you someday. As you said, not nearly enough people here do paintings (oils are very rare in convention art shows, though we do see a handful of large acrylics ever year at Anthrocon), so I should do my part to fix that. ^__^
