How to draw a cartoon fox with a hat -- or without?

I occasionally make models with Sculpey, just for my own use. It helps me design a character and is irreplaceable as a reference for drawing, especially when it comes to using different layout angles in a comic panel. While the final drawing may not look exactly like the model, it gives me a place to start.

To make the sculpture, I start with a wadded ball of aluminum foil, cover it with a layer of Sculpey, and bake that...then start adding things and just keep going.
