Had to re-upload this one for some reason.
This is an example of a very plain tarot card style commission. Color also available. Usual ones would have more border details.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Li.....nd_the_Unicorn Had to make a lovers joke.

Sure!
I tried some time ago because I was doing an avian concept but it sort of hit the ground after the initial interest. I wanted to have people bid per card for their character to be in a real live published deck, now I think I can offer just one bespoken deck, and individual cards.
I still want to make the deck with characters, I have the google doc still somewhere around a pile of car manuals and art books.
You're the one that should have a deck, all realism style. I can already see the layout and design XD

I have a medium knowledge of tarot, and am more fascinated by the earlier decks which were not occult based. I have no gaming skills for card games so I usually just like to learn about the cards then how to play with them in that way. XD
I've been doing forms of readings since middle school, but I rarely do them traditionally. My favorite modern deck, and the one I have used since high school, is Brian Froud's Oracle Deck. Not very traditional at all. Besides being a faerie nutter, I liked the way it is encouraged to find your own meaning and how in the book it talks about studying the cards for that. My best friend uses a dragon deck I got for her in high school, and that one is much more traditional to the sense of "tarot" and is the one I learned most of the minor cards from.
An oracle or meditation deck would be good for your surrealism. I've seen a few projects with collaborating artists working on one deck, and I could see why. It's a huge undertaking. Sometimes just getting started leaves me on a rabbit run or temporary bird walk into other subjects. My deck is still in the layout and art design stage till I get all of the backbones complete.
If you did make one, I could see it having the old papers as the template background, and maybe for each bundle, a different template of paper (but that gets complex) "Dust Across Pages" composition-wise would be good, but with more scrapped paper than a sheet. Prolly lacquered with a metallic surfacer, it would need a rich burnt look. Most of your really trending pieces have that velvety rich deep tone somewhere in them. So it's like a signature look.
I would be torn between a look like "In wolf's Clothing" meets the "Donkey and Goldfish" To something like "The Weaverbird's" . Honestly the weaver one would have the most chance at bookstores. However the style like the "Greedyfish" or "Hinoki" would also make a very well done traditional deck that could be made into a smaller easier to sell within the fandom deck.
Now because you got me goin' all Merri like lol, here is a link to another artist doing deck stuff, but also one of my "Dear god I want your talent" peoples: http://puimun.deviantart.com/
That is the style that sells very well for Tarot, I "like their collection for that, but I think they are weak examples of their art. You might be inspired by the Strange Dreams collection in relation to tying that in with your new oil tech instead of watercolors.

Also If you don't know this one, http://nati.deviantart.com/ that is another one I like for the textures more than the can-o-manga faces (even if still good)
http://www.skullgarden.net/art/the-wooden-tarot/ Check out this girl's work on hers, it's fabulous
An acquaintance of mine does "Balance" readings with cards she made herself, intended as a meditation and self exploration aid, and I've always very much liked that concept. You also just gave me a few new people to watch. I'll have to ponder on this a bit more, It seems like an interesting undertaking.
http://arnellart.com/makenpub.htm is a great little "too much text" page for getting started, well more on the side we both have some reference to besides just the art.
As for artists for da, this is about all left to show you:

As for balance readings, I do a reading that is very wandering, there is no official spread for it, and I add cards to other cards. I call it the "Why" reading. It's never the same for any person. I personally like that style more. The point of the cards is they are the path of life, which is not set in stone. Most people that want a reading, are there for therapy in a sense. Most of a reading is personal for both the reader and the one on the other side of the reading.
I am not sure if I would have a negative and positive meaning to my decks yet. I could, but I feel that they should not be determined that way. In a more complicated way, I would love to have a circle shaped card with navigation points on it, with levels of angle to the card perspective.
XD I have too many ideas.

Yes that is the trouble, needing that backing, i was fortunate enough to aquired a few bits of art that was for a planned deck of cards by seskata which were very nice.
PLus reminded me i need to work on a few for my character as this years uk confuzzled is alice in wonder land so need some card based con badges XD (a pain if u have more than one fursonna)

Oh man yeah! I set up a journal a long time ago trying to get backing, but to be honest I think it was too soon. I have several ideas, and I might just do the personal one then see if anyone wants the same off I had made before XD I wanted to more or less direct art and manage art more than create it so I have lots of projects planned out.
I still use the same badge, year in and year out. I really should make one with my own art >.> Its always embarrassing to correct people and point them in my friend's direction.
I would love an alice and wonderland theme. I used to be lifestyle lolita before it hit the states (I admit being an otaku hipster and when anything hits the mall kids I won't involve with it anymore) I still have a card themed dress that would be perfect. XC

Hheh, maybe a con near you will do it soon as a theme.
I am dressing as a the mad hatter, big mad hat still a WIP but is looks so cool already.hnnng must get that con badge done soon too.
I am aware of the lolita scene but know much of it but the dresses always impress me when i research it.

HAT! I would maybe go as the dodo bird. or the gryphon. I know the rabbit owning crazy me would reach for bunny first though. :P
The dresses are nuts. My sister lived in Japan for university and her science lab later, she spent much of my youth there, so she would gift me things. I never got into the 300 buck dresses, I can't fit anything from Japan that is actually cute. XD I made my own dresses or bought them from seamstresses in the livejournal community boom days then sold most of it off and swore off wearing costumes everyday. I kind of regret that "giving up on my fandoms" phase, because I also tossed out a ton of cosplay stuff.
