Here we see the illustrious Captain Wheel - commander of his ship, the Honorable Chaste Rat - showing his adopted sons Zarn (left) and Zam some love while they pose for an unseen illustrator.
When Wheel adopted his young shiphand Zarn, he thought that was that, but during the official adoption ceremony with Zarn's tribe, Wheel realized that he had also adopted Zarn's older brother Zam by default. Zam is a regular grouch, but the rat captain is nonetheless enthusiastic. (Besides, Zam would make the same face regardless what mood he is in, so all's fine)
Readasaur owns Captain Wheel, one of my favorite fictional characters of all time.
Kamechuu drew and colored and shaded this picture like the total boss she is.

"Tam, be matey, can ye hurry up just a bit? Me boys 'r gettin' restless."
"No, I'm holding still! Zam is one who is squirming!"
"Because he is hanging all over me!"
And so it continued. Tam had actually made numerous charcoal sketches of the three of them in various poses for reference so that Zarn could do a woodcarving of the family later, but the Praying Mantis had a feeling that they would be here for some time yet. Zarn seemed very displeased with Zam's poses, and general conduct, while Zam made it clear he was here against his wishes, and it was all Captain Wheel could do to keep the peace and keep the two of them in one place. It promised to be a trying ordeal, but portraits, like families, were worth the effort.
