I just realized that this works on a gameplay level as well.
-In order to evolve, Pancham not only needs to be around level 30, but also needs a dark type in the party (I suppose as a sort of "bad influence" on Pancham). So one would expect the Pancham to become attached to the dark type in question. Throw in diapers, and you get this.
