Huh - you do not usually encounter latex inflatables - I'm intrigued.

For a one-off this is way cheaper than vinyl since the machinery needed is much less complex. You don't see them in mass production much because latex is more expensive than vinyl as a material but the higher labor cost on vinyl more than makes up for that in small numbers. This guy cost me about a quarter of what I paid for the Barge prototype (including design and such), obviously he's smaller and Barge was a preparation for a cheaper mass production. I'm exploring this avenue for getting reasonably priced one-off toys made without the hassle of organizing an order and all that crap.

There could be a great market for smaller inflatables! I have a cuddly Jets deer who's pretty thin, cheap, and three foot high but that gets me by.

That is pretty nifty. I rather like the fact that it's made out of latex. Would be a nice toy to hug that way! :)
