after the bizarre phenomenon of several people being turned into non human beings after being struck by lightning, a team of scientists take on the job of studying this storm. While wearing suits that are supposed to protect them from the storms effects, they prepare for it's arrival.

I read a book about a storm that altered reality as it came in. The main character was luck and only lost the ability to breathe freely, others were turned to glass. This storm steals humanity, but reminded me of it all the same
