My own interpretation of the Valravn (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valravn). A mythological raven. My mind took the myth and ran off in its own directions, so that's the version I decided to try to capture.

Valravn was a kind soul, who loved children. But he could not draw near, because his appearance terrified them. Their revulsion of him slowly caused him to believe that he was indeed ugly and not to be seen. But he wished nonetheless to protect the children he so cared for, despite their prejudice. So he lurked in the shadows, in a dark closet or under a bed, watching over them to protect them from their nightmares....
