Yeah the weather is actually best about then too.
And http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edinburgh_Festival saves a lot of explaining on my part, as its not just one festival but many (plus the unofficial "fringe festival") all at the same time, the city gets busy as its rather small really. It can attract slightly annoying yuppie types .... and plenty of nice people too
