rescued sea otters in Sewerd Alaska after the Exon-valdez spill....this is a great piece...caught their spirit perfectly. Otters really are the perfect cross between a cat & a dog...neither, & both @ the same time.

How awesome of you. :) What a horrible thing, those oil spills. I've never gotten the chance to go up and volunteer for any but whenever I see photos of those that do I'm so glad people are out there putting in the work to try to help all those critters :<

one of the sea otters had a baby & the 'WildLife Authority PPL' needed to take a blood sample from this baby..?.......
we all screamed that this was wrong
& that the mother would abandon her pup if they did....
BUT they were the WILDLIFE ppl....they did it anyhow
....who the FK knows why....
& the Mother Otter abandoned her pup.....
GOD Almighty....it was all so FKng SAD....
I was there 3 weeks around the Solstice.........!.....

@ the hands of the 'Rescuers'.

I can just imagine. :< I did wildlife rehab for many years and saw a lot of things that frustrated me insanely. Rules, protocol - something common sense gets totally lost in the shuffle. : /

I never saw anyplace as utterly breath taking as Alaska...the sky was furious...always w/ several fronts @ once....the landscape...could swallow you in a moment...we were warned not to leave the roadside & venture off....alaskan quicksand!!!....the eagles were everywhere & the wildflowers were such vibrant colors....& the freakin'solstice fullmoon.....rolls up on the horizon...hold court.....& rolls back down in the direction from where it came up in!!!!! O.....very freaky.....& the wild animals & sea mammals in the Bay.....just wow...
it was the Wildlife ppl who slapped their regulations on what we were trying to do.....as well as very stupid-new-age-weenies doin'that SaveMotherEarth thang....!!! I came back very changed...realizing that 'we' weren't going to save anything & certainly not the Earth....I guess you could say i had my 'come back to God' moment there.
