Here are a couple of project vehicles I've been dealing with at work (along with being gone away at training for the last 16 weeks). The one on the right is an up armored M-1123, and the one on the right is a an M-998 with a 4 door fiberglass hard top.
The one with the fiberglass hard top, will be used for responding to calls in flood prone areas. The up armored one, well we hope that's something we never have to use.

The LED's we used are Strobes N' more E6's .... http://www.strobesnmore.com/Strobes.....Super-LED.html
The flood lights are Strobes N' more EFlood 2500's.... http://www.strobesnmore.com/Strobes.....ood-Light.html
I was able to convince the powers that be, it was much more practical to use multi voltage LED's then to re-tread some old strobes and have to purchase a power inverter.
As far as the siren goes, the driver was a special order Whelen unit that was set up for 24 volt. It didn't cast anymore then the normal 12 volt model, we just had to wait for it. And yes all we did was use the bail and ran it around the vertical portions in the grill, to secure the speaker.
Stay Safe and CY6

Oh OK..I got a few e6 mounted on my truck along with many other whelen and code3 lights. As a installer I really like the set up. Although please tell.me you didn't split the light heads and that you kept them solid. Split heads are a huge pet peeve of mine.
Any chance you could get a video. Seems like a really nice set up.
Very much agree with you though. LEDs are the way to go. Strobes require a power supply. And also replacement tubes cost just as much as an e6 head. LEDs got longer life and are considerably brighter.

I've found that more often than not a simple change of clothes is all that is. Departments switching to BDU style clothing for functionality and comfort of the officer. More often than not the equipment that the officer carries as not changed.
Switching to BDU styles provides an officer more mobility less for an offender to grab (is. Badges, name pins, and other decorative sharp objects) switching has helped officer safety by having all pertanint info sewn into their uniforms. Cops equipment hasn't changes. They still carry a gun. Handcuffs. Taser. Pepper spray a baton and extra ammo. Its just their clothing that has. And it was changed to make an officers job easier and more comfortable.

Thankfully the up-armored one will remain in a garage, where it won't break down due to being ridiculously overloaded and use up twice the fuel.
Has your town been sent an MRAP yet? They keep on showing up in bizarre places because the military is casting them off and anyone who signs up can have one, no matter if they have 3,000 or 3,000,000 people in their town.
