I was being silly. I sort if suspected you might be moderately dog friendly. Ditto. I do volunteer work st shelters and offer free beginner training and behavior/manner courses for new adaptees. The biggest reason for dumping a dog is manners. A well behaved dog is likely a permanent one.
Oh ok I thought maybe I did or said something to think otherwise XD haha yeah I agree with why most dogs are dumped. As for our pal Buddy, he must have had a home, he's so well behaved :( there are so many reasons he could be out there alone. We recently helped locate a dog who had jumped out of a horse trailer while the family was relocating to a different province. It had been a full year before he was located living near a farm but had never been brought in! It took 3 wonderful people to help transport Tex back to his family who never gave up looking!
Wow. That's really unusual for horse folk. Most horse folk get bored with their dogs, or just dislike them, will pour gasoline on them and set them on fire for entertainment. For these people to have made any effort whatsoever to find d their dog is most unusual! and for him to have been close to a farm and not been shot k. Sight? Even oddier!, what a interesting and most unusual event. :). You being a dog rescuer must surely know how bad horse and cattle people are toward dogs. Especially dogs they do not know. Im happy he found his way home!
Actually around here it's almost the opposite (though there are those sickos out there that have chased and shot family farm dogs!) as for the owners, there are a lot of actual cattle and sheep herds that need a dog to protect and help herd. These dogs are farmers friends and coworkers. My foster dog Viv (there's a picture of her in my gallery somewhere) she was rehomed to a farm to not only be a family pet but she now has a herd of 200 cows to help herd when they need to be moved. Many of the horse people here don't just own a horse to own one, they own them because they have too. Much of the pasture here is protected so quads and vehicles are prohibited, so they need horses and dogs to bring the cattle home, or to move them. :D
