'The ball,' she thought, the sound of her own voice ringing in her ears. 'Whose idea was this, anyway?' A small sigh escaped her lips before they pursed and curled into a grin. Until now, she'd just thought of it as another boring event she'd need to attend, but there would be plenty of people there. Plenty of people that no one would miss.
Twirling and waltzing her way towards the closet, the grin on her face widened. 'I can have more fun with this than I thought!' She thumbed through the ornate dresses hung in the closet, each in pristine condition, most only worn once. "Fei!" she called, crossing her arms. "Feithin, get in here!" Her eyes widened and her lips puckered as she pouted at the closet. A hand gently sat upon her shoulder, causing a gasp to make its way from her mouth. "Feithin, do NOT do that! I've told you a million times-," she protested, before being interrupted, "Yes, miss. My apologies." The bat took a step backward, his wings clacking as he moved, "Did you need assistance?" She turned her attention back to the closet, huffing and groaning as she eyed all the dresses, "Yeah, I do! Which one of these should I wear?!" He sighed, taking one of her hands and moving it to his eyes, "I couldn't tell you. They all 'look' the same to me." Yanking her hand back, she scoffed in frustration, "Well, give me a color! Something, I need SOME input!" He smirked, folding his arms to his chest, before taking a moment to think. "Well," he paused, sliding his tongue across his lips, "Red certainly suits your personality." A gleam in her eye, she turned to him and shoved him back, shouting at him to leave immediately. She knew which one to wear now - which one was perfect. Hurriedly, she shoved the dresses to the side until she came across one, still enclosed in the bag it was purchased in, pulling it from the hanger and tossing it to the bed. "This one is perfect!"
She spent the next few days in bliss, gleefully skipping and dancing about her business, thoughts of the upcoming ball all too frequently on her mind. It had been quite awhile since the last big event, and even longer since one that would have so many people. 'So many people,' repeated over and over in her head as if a cd were skipping inside her skull. "Miss Metra?" a voice called, breaking her concentration. "Miss Metra, are you almost ready?" It was the guard. Of course it was the guard; it was ALWAYS the guard. 'Oh well,' she thought, smiling that enormous, child-like smile of hers, 'At least she'll be taking me to the ball.' Her hands slid across the red gown, wiping themselves clean. "Not a stain in sight," she cackled, licking her red-stained lips before making her way to the chariot awaiting her.

Just a short, introductory-type story to introduce the princess of the Spring Starlight Ball. My writing is atrocious, I apologize!
If you actually read through the story, rather than just looking at the pretty picture, I'd appreciate a comment about it! I haven't done any sort of writing in a long time, so I'd love opinions on how it is. xD
