I am aware the actual lyrics say 'Jean'. Explanation below.
So, my middle name is Jeanne. And my Dad is corny. So he'd often sing the lyrics to the Monkees song 'Daydream Believer' to me as 'Cheer up Valerie Jeanne! Oh what can it mean? To a daydream believer and a homecoming queen.~
It's made somewhat more amusing as I really DO daydream an awful lot and I almost was made homecoming queen one year in high school purely by joke votes. (I was kind of THE kid to pick on back in the day. Hurrrrrr.)

HA HA That happened to one of my friends too!
I always found that joke really counter-productive. I mean you get in the year book, and you get to dance with some of the other guys who made homecoming court, and no doubt some of them are probably quite handsome.
My friend got to dance with her crush lol.

The whole "Joke votes for the kid we don't like, lolz, we're brilliant! >:D" thing never made sense to me.

my best friend (not a homecoming queen type) and another good friend of mine (not a homecoming king type) got really really close to winning cause all of us (the artsy drama kids) voted for them. it was really funny to see them, this total nerd who creeps people out, and the art chick, up on stage with the preps sneering at them.
