I thought I could upload a new proggy song idea.
Just to let you know that I'm not dead. Just working on some musical projects.
Whatever. New song, new luck, they say.^^
I hope you guys can give me some feedback on this.
FYI, the drums are just a readymade loop from my eBand.

It's great to see you're making music again! :D
This is awesome, the only thing that I really think needs improving is the distorted rhythm guitar, it could do with being a bit brighter, and it's definitely worth considering double- or quad-tracking it. I wouldn't change anything in terms of composition, it sounds awesome so far and I'm looking forwards to hearing more from you. :)

I've never really stopped.^^ I'm just preoccupied sometimes... with... being lazy.^^
I'm glad you like it. And I was glad when I found that guitar riff 2 or 3 days ago. I thought I had something back then, and it seems to be developing. I'm also thinking about spicing up the rhythms after the 1st verse to give it a more modern metal feel.
And double-tracking goes without saying, yet this is only an early sketch. Same goes for mixing. This might be a only 3rd to a 4th of the whole song. I thank you nevertheless for that advice.
Do the pros even quad-tracking nowadays? I didn't know, but it makes sense.
As for hearing music from me... I mostly hesitate to upload half-baked things. but sometimes it's better than feign death.^^
Thanks for listening.

Yeah I've been the same this year, half being lazy and half buried under coursework, my last assignment deadline is tomorrow so I'm going to be getting back into more composing very soon. :D
This song has definitely got potential, it'll be very interesting to see what you come up with for the rest. Perhaps spicing up the rhythm could wait until a later section, I like the sustained chords with the drums there, it makes it dramatic without being cluttered, and could provide a nice contrast to a more complicated rhythmic section later on.
Quad-tracking depends on the song really, I'm sure many do but it doesn't work for every song, it's worth trying it out to see how it sounds, especially if you want a really big metal sound. ^^
Posting half-baked stuff is always useful for feedback, I haven't done it much myself but will probably start to this summer if I can start composing a lot again. Plus, half-baked ideas are better than some things I've posted during long hiatuses (see 'Aliens' in my scraps for a prime example of I don't even know what). xD

That's a really great chord progression, what was your thought process on choosing the chords? Did you write the melody first, or sing over the chord progression to come up with that?
Man, I wish I could hear the song with the guitars and your singing alone, because those really are moving to me.

Thanks. I think at that time, i was playing around with gradually ascending and decending basslines and forming chrods around them. Them melody came afterwards to me. I had a few melody idea, but chose this one.
TBH, it's moving me as werll, because it fits so well to many things. And the thing that occupied my mind the most lately are the hate and the segregation happening in FA.
Oh, and that song's really quite sad, I think I crashed some parties with it. >.>
