This is a painting I have been neglect for some time now. It is not finish - I am not satisfy with the background. The background is meant to be airship and planes bombing a city, the white are spotlights which have found the airship. I am think it is need to be modified to appear more convincing. It is difficult to find worthwhile reference image of dirigible.
It is another of acrylic half-portrait paintings in the series. There is two more that have yet to be finish.

This reminds me of a selection from Marc Blitzstein's Airborne Symphony which focuses on World War II (it was written in 1948). The one song discussing the bombed out cities was haunting. At one point the narrator (my recording featured Orson Welles) lists the names of cities bombed to dust. One line goes like, "The door to the house left standing... not the house but just the door."
Truly a time when much was asked of us. I like it, Zyklon. I like it very much.
