And they say 'dry' lake beds are dry. Ever try walking on one... Its not so dry. It may have cracks on the surface, but one step upon any of those 'plates' yields black ooze slipping from the cracks, and a deep impression of your foot through the half inch of 'solid dryness' which dissolves into a pasty thick and clingy clay that adheres to EVERYTHING. This was part of the field that I was taking pictures of some of the seasonal birds that attend our area every spring. This was part of a professional shoot, and I had come prepared for a little bit of mud. But when my foot got stuck hard in an edge, I actually had to be helped out by one of the other people on the team. Seriously embarrassing, but none the worse for wear. Had I come alone I would have gotten out with ease, just kicked off the shoe, and barefooted it, and pulled the shoe out that way. no problem! Was like My foot was in sticky glue and well stuck to my ankles. My hikers had to be hosed off once I got home, but I was none the worse for wear.
If not for my utter embarrassment for having gotten stuck in something so shallow, it would have been just fine. But Nooooo, the only girl on the team and I had to be the one to get stuck. Not COOL. I had to be rescued of all things and here I am the big mud fan, not that they knew any of that, but... No-Fair!
Anyway, found a place I'll try out some time on my own, with a little more swampfox exploration attire on, or just a swimsuit or something
