A New Warhammer 40k character concept, based on the Farsight Enclaves supplemental codex lore.
The short explaination. In Warhammer 40k, the galaxy is pretty grimdark [literally, that's where the meme comes from] but the Tau Empire are basically one of the few groups that aren't irredeemably evil, stupid or bloodthirsty.
They're a highly technologically and culturally advanced race, surprisingly so for their relative youth compared to other races. However their apparent utopian society might not be as perfect as it looks, as a small but powerful sect of renegades under the ex-commander "Farsight" have broken away to form their own set of colonies in uncharted space, believing the ruling power of the empire to be corrupt and hiding certain vital truths about the empire and the galaxy itself from the public at large, secrets which if kept hidden, could threaten the Tau as a species overall.

Name: Shas'O Fal'Shia, Ka'rashi Gal'leath Kara (Commander Fal'Shia, Exiled wanderer of the void. All Tau have very long names.)
Nickname / shorthand: Shas'O Kara, or just "Kara" among friends and allies.
Gender: Female (Duh)
Age: 36 Terran Years [45 Tau'cyr (Tau Years)]
Species: Shas'Tau [Tau Fire Caste (Warrior sub-species)]
Weapons: Ceremonial Ceramite dagger, aka "Bonding Knife" [Shown above] Pilot-Issue Pulse Pistol, XV8 Crisis Battlesuit, "Shock Trooper" Varient, heavily modified. (See here, concept and art by LordDirk (DA) )
Misc. information: Commands the 2nd colonial expansion taskforce of the Farsight Enclaves. Leads small tight-knit group of executive officers, who form the colonial war council. These personell are made up of survivors from her original exodus from Tau space, defectors from the Tau Empire, and Enclave-Born citizens. Four prosperous colonies have been established in uncharted frontier space under her guidance, three life-supporting planets and one lunar outpost.
Personality: Patient, though not entirely without a fiery temperment, as is common for her kind. Can come off as rather jaded and "icy" at times, but has the best of intentions at heart.
In short, while my previous 2 Tau OC's are part of the main "empire", this one is from a renegade faction of the same species.Since I've written enough here, I'll write the backstory another time. Don't want to risk boring you all to death.
Took about a day and a half including some delays. Finished it about two weeks ago, didn't get around to posting here until now. This is a bit of a blend of other design elements I've seen among Tau characters, be they canon or fan-made, so if I'm infringing on your IP accidentally, do tell me and I'll make sure to credit you.
Might do more with this character, might not. Still ironing out the details and deciding what direction I want to take her.

Yes, Kara is quite different to Elsy in many respects. This may require a little explaining, but I'll "TRY" to keep it brief :P I'll admit warhammer lore is... well not very easy to navigate, and with the Tau VERY lacking, a lot of what I know of them comes from fan-interpretation and headcanon. When you lack information, you gotta fill in the blanks yourself, eh?
I'll just note that to you to save the trouble, feel free to read at your leasuire :)
Kara is a Fire Caste soldier full-blooded, born and bred for nothing but fighting, basically in peak physical condition as far as Tau go. As you noted, she's not as "clean and shiny" as the main Tau soldiers becase as I said, she's kind of a rebel, and not in the "punk rocker" fashion, more in the "renegade militia" kind of way. She's leading a colonial expansion effort for the renegade faction - the Farsight Enclaves, into untamed space, so things are a little... "gritty" out in that part of space, so there ya go xD

Well the cape is a symbol of authority, plus something I'm fond of. I was applying capes to my Tau Commanders in both models and art for the longest time, so when they released the Fireblade Model and made that part of the canon, I had to keep doing it XD
The straps are interlocking metal segments, so I doubt there's much chance of them being torn off. But thanks for the comment. I've got a commission of this character in progress, so keep your eyes peeled for more of her.
