I'm a fucking idiot for staying up this late >.< you know, that last little corner you want to finish, that turns into the arm, because it wont take so long and while you're at it you can type up all the info you can think of ... bla, bla, bla, whatever >.<
Anyway, here you go, the eye-catcher from my picture "The strong men of mother russia..."
Drew that today in a surge of unproductivity concerning my graduation. Anyway, enjoy >_>

funny how you mentioned about the european Gaurdian suit. i have a bit of a gaurdian suit of my own, cept it's more of a mech and and it was earlier given the name "juggernaut" because of its massive size.
not that you are but incase you're interested, here's the link to the juggernaught suit and its predisesore the goliath:

I like your concept :). Only the problem with remote controlled Utility vehicles are Jamming and Hacking. So Quiet much more over head is needed to prevent these attacks. Besides i am not so sure if this machine can be that much more agile then a human, if i consider that a human being is still in control of this unite a few miles away. I mean you have the normal reaction time of the human + the delay due to transmission.
Also: Insane idea to put a reactive amour plating on the shoulders! I suppose you know that are explosives! ;)

True enough, but the same thing can be said about SWORD or UAVs. All it needs is a bit of hacker fidling, but you'd expect there to be electronic counter measures to that sort of stuff, especially considdering how code-crazed the russians are lately X3
It's true that the suit still works with the mobility of a human, but you have to remember that Guardian and Pladin Trooper concepts need to bare in mind that there is a human inside the suit, so if the suit moves some way too fast or the wrong way at the wrong time they risk injuring the pilot, which kind of negates the idea of an armored exo-skelton.
And yes, I know reactive armor plating is explosive, it's mostly why it's called "reactive" but it's not like ARENA isn't any less dangerous to its surroundings, so there really is the question of what else you could possibly do about that :b

Ok i agree in regard of design and speed you have less limitations, if you remove the pilot from the suite. But how to build such a thing depends very much on the other arsenal you have at hand :). So i suppose the computer defense of the Russians is much stronger then of the Americans XD.
Regarding the armor not much. Besides putting more metal on the object and perhaps some more layers of Kevlar. So yes i see the point behind your choice.
But one last question. What kind of weapon you expect to put against such suites? I mean a take fist could probably crack this thing.... but how many can a team of Marines carry with then :\.
Then again i heard that the American lately encountered Infantry weapons which can muddle through the armor of their tanks (two times - the bullet wasn't found ... only the two holes :\ ) but i don't know any details.

Well, since most skilled code-geeks coem from the eastern area, I'd expect so X3
Well...I guess the old tank-killer machineguns are gonna come back in fashion X3 e.g. Bradley 25mm Chaingun, 30mm Shipunov 2A42 cannon, etc.
As for that thing you're describing o.O I'll have to look into that

There was (is?) a board war game from Steve Jackson Games called OGRE that basically pits one group of plays against a another player who simply plays a HUGE nuclear powered warbot called an Ogre. They made a video game of it in the 1980s, but as board war games slowly died off (as well as similar realism computer war games) died off they didn't make a newer version of it.
They stand out, most of the mech is standard molded body panels. Kinda reminds me a little of the bot from Red Planet, just the feet tho.
