Overcoming Disabilities through Pony
VISION:
Show how My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and The Brony Fandom has improved the lives of individuals who have disabilities, special needs, or feel outcast for their differences
MISSION:
Use examples from the show and its fandom to achieve the following
1: Dispel negative stereotypes associated to, or felt by, those who are disabled, have special needs, or feel outcast for their differences
2: Educate participants on how friendship and mentoring can lead to a positive, chain reaction in the life of someone who is disabled, has special needs, or feels outcast for their differences
3: Learn how to recognize and respect the gray area that is often neglected in the development of software and multimedia

PANELIST TOPICS:
Meredith Sims
Wrote and voiced the inspirational animation by Silly Filly Studios, Snowdrop.
Meredith will discuss Snowdrop and its positive impact on the Disabled and Special Needs community within, and beyond, the Brony Fandom. She will also touch on how simple additions to multimedia presentations can make them enjoyable for a larger audience.
Rachel Merryfield
Rachel iis a disabilities and special needs advocate who is actively working on two unique projects. Braillemon and Twinkle Morningdew
Rachel will present Braillemon, Pokémon Red and Blue for the Blind, or Visually Impaired. Along with how the fan animation, Snowdrop, has inspired her to work on Matthew Palumbo’s latest children’s book, Twinkle Morningdew.
Matthew Palumbo
An aspiring, Children’s Book Author who was born with a degenerative, eye condition who has overcome numerous life obstacles to show those he meets, befriends, and collaborates with how truly capable the disabled are.
Matt will discuss, using examples from the show and the fan animation, Snowdrop, how he, and others, have found Inspiration and Acceptance.
Benjamin Platt
Ben is an aspiring Writer and Educator who has helped raise a younger brother with Autism and a younger sister with Down's Syndrome,
Ben will discuss how My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic has helped him build a stronger bond between himself and his special needs sister. He will also discuss how to be positive and supportive while growing up in a household with a special needs father and siblings.
PANEL FLOW:
Each panelist will speak on his, or her, topic for approximately ten minutes with approximately twenty minutes allocated to Q&A and for those in attendance to share their stories.
