A lovely picture of Tiffany done by the amazing

Oh, and what's this? A story! :3
Tiffany sighed, slumping onto the counter. Things hadn't gone quite as well as she'd hoped after her initial enthusiasm died down. It turned out having experience in underwater salvage didn't mean much in a landlocked city. She at least managed to find a cheap place to live and things had much improved after the last 'discussion' with her roommate. After searching for work for almost a month she finally ended up at what she had considered to be a job of last resort: fast food.
Picking a bendy straw from the straw cup next to the register, Tiffany gently bent and straightened the flexible end in an effort to alleviate some of her boredom. The lunch rush had come and gone and with the exception of some random stragglers wandering in she'd been completely work free for a couple of hours. She reflected on the fact that this job really didn't pay very well, but the owner slash manager allowed what he had referred as 'unlimited snacking.' Not that he could have prevented some food from disappearing anyway; the place was so loosely managed that she and the usually stoned short order cook were frequently the only employees there.
A sudden loud grumble from her stomach reminded her that she hadn't had a chance to eat any lunch today. Straightening up and stretching, Tiffany carefully made her way towards the preparation area. She had already knocked the stack of drinking cups behind the register over twice today with her tail, and she really didn't want to spend any more time picking them up. The faint sound of candy being crushed reached her ears as she approached the rear of the restaurant.
Sitting on a stool behind the deep fryers was a rather large hyena poking at his phone. He was wearing an apron that only partially covered his stomach and a goofy paper hat in addition to the normal work uniform. Tiffany had initially been rather distrustful of his cooking ability when she started but during her first rush she had marveled at the rate he moved from fryer to grill to prep, practically becoming a blur of activity despite his size. Everything he cooked came out remarkably good too, even for fast food. He glanced up briefly as she approached and gestured towards a large basket containing a huge pile of fish sticks balanced on the corner of the fryer.
"Figured you missed lunch again, so I made some of the fish sticks you like."
Tiffany gaped for a moment before approaching the basket. Steam was still wafting off of it as she carefully picked up a single fish stick and swallowed it, the breaded layer perfectly crispy. She hummed softly to herself in delight as she grabbed a second.
Tiffany returned her gaze to the hyena, "Thanks so much, these are great." She paused for a moment. "How'd you know when I'd be hungry anyway?"
He looked back up from his phone and grinned, "I didn't. This is the third basket I've made." He patted his stomach for emphasis before returning to his phone.
Tiffany laughed quietly as the door chime sounded. "Well, back to work I guess." He grunted in the affirmative as she grabbed the fryer basket and made her way back to the counter.
