Awww!!!!! Im really happy that made you smile. I have always grown up with labs due to my aunts and uncle and my grandparents, we got jasmine back in summer of 2003 when she was a little 7 week old puppy. When we brought her home, I remember holding her in my hands and she took a big yawn and fell asleep. She had the most cutest blueish eyes too. She still thinks shes a pup at times. One of the best things I love about labs, even for jasmine, is that for instance I was upstairs and accidently hurt my foot on something and she rushed right over to me to see if I was ok and would not stop until assured her.
Ah, same here. A black lab named Una and a golden retriever named Heather were my two best friends for years when I was very young; in fact, I have a picture of me as an infant snuggled up against Heather's belly. Sadly, we had to entrust Una to a friend's care when we moved out of state. When we visited them years later, Una was still alive and well, but with a muzzle every bit as grey as your 11 year old's, greeting me excitedly as the puppy I'd always known. Labs are truly wonderful companions, indeed.
