This is a 30' by 40' charcoal and pastel project for my Drawing Narrative and Metaphor class from this semester. The six dragons around the outside are similar to the chorus found in plays, looking in and guiding your sight to the story just before you. As the season change towards fall, the Goddess Diana rests in her active duties. Putting aside her bow and arrows, her flaming brand handed off to her consort, the Stag, as he watches guard, Diana teaches two of the new hunters of the woods and tells them stories of the forest.
This piece became a strange mix of mythology and symbols surrounding Diana as well as scenery and symbols from my own personal meditations and spirituality.
