Photos don't show it very well but this chameleon was pathological in that she suffered MBD. Metobolic Bone Disease, which I'm sure lead to her death...unfortunately. Folks, let this be a lesson...don't own any pet, be it exotic or otherwise...unless you know how to take care of them properly. Don't get it because it's cool, and you can't wait to tell your friends...its not fair to the animal, you hold their life in your hands.
Her forelegs are bowed, her ribs very warped and wavy, and a rather odd "kink" in her spine in her lumbar vertebrae about 4 vertebrae from her pelvis.
Due to how delicate her bones are from her disease, she's not as white and "clean" looking as I would like. (please ignore the remaining stubborn scales on her face, I did my best but not all of them would come off and I didn't want to over do it and risk damaging her delicate bone structure further.
She has her eye rings as well as her hyoid horn, the cartilage bone-like barb that is attached to the hyoid bone of Chameleons and aids in their ability to launch their tongues and grab their prey. Everything pictured is natural except for the two wire supports to help keep her steady and strong. I found the branch on a nature walk and it looked like an antler, it was attached to a much larger branch I dragged all the way back to the car (that was a very long drag...) took it home to cut off what I wanted and the other portion is in my stash. She's pictured about to grab a frog legged beetle. Yum!
I also have her tanned skin which I forgot to take photos of. ^^; I'll get those soon.
