i really like this picture mainly because of some details and her face. she looks cute, but still
ferocious and her hairstyle complements her wild nature in this pic.
i also like the pose, which gives it a good amount of movement and perspective.
though, i think her expression could be a little more agressive.
she looks more like in a photo shooting where she wasn't sure about what to do.
also the grip on the sword looks a bit soft, so i have the feeling she could lose the blade
any moment, but this could also be a style decision to give her a more agile style by
lifting that middle finger slightly (like if she would be ready to flip her sword to another
position)
conclusion: the pose and perspective are great, she has a cute face, but could look a
little more aggro for a more rogue like style.
i'm sure she'll be a fine addition to your set of characters and beat the crap out of
the bad (or the good ?) guys :P

All valid points! Of course, as far as my thought process goes, hindsight is always 20/20. However, it does seem even you were able to notice where I intended the picture to go, even if I didn't quite make it.
I've been told I'm not half bad with drawing expressions, but I feel I still have trouble breaking out of safe boundaries, for example her face not quite looking as ferocious as I would have liked. And don't even get me started on the grip! Hands are my weakness, a boat in which I'm sure many other amateur artists are in as well. I'm certain a few days of hand studies and hand gesture drawing would fix that, but oh I can never find the time!

i know exactly what you mean. i hate to draw hands so much that i tend to hide them
often behind the characters. this helped me a little to understand how to draw hands http://karlmac.com/wp-content/uploa.....by-nk-chan.jpg
but mine are far from being perfect.
about faces: just try to manipulate some details around the eyes, add a wrinkle, lift
a cheek. the human (and therefore furry) face has many muscles ^^
perhaps we can do a collab someday and mix up our drawing styles :3
