The Question "WHY" (Large, Reflection Piece) - April 2014
It's nearly the end of April and I thought I should do this before we officially hit May.
I was having a discussion with a friend of mine about... art and how it's perceived. And I've always been slightly sad that people don't tell me what they see.
To me (brace yourselves) art is a storybook. No matter how simple or how complicated it is. It speaks to people in different ways. The best part about this particular storybook is that it changes slightly depending on who is 'reading' it.
I've always been partial to people telling me what they see in my work. Now, don't get me wrong, I am HAPPY when people tell me "Wow this is amazing" or "I love it!" and I'm not expecting every person who sees my work to suddenly delve into the deep pools of reflection and insight. It is enough for people to see my work and like (and subscribe) it.
The very few who -do- look into it, and 'see' what others don't is what gets me excited. A few pieces over the last year or so have caught some people's attention, they've privately messaged me with questions and I've gladly given them answers.
In lieu of this (and of the discussion I had) I decided to do a short write-up of what I was "thinking" during the process of weaving my work. At least for the month of April.
Do let me know if such a thing as this interests you, as it takes awhile to do.

I would suggest perhaps as to keep this within your gallery. I had taken note of the design for pigs and it is refreshing that you do place more elaborate messages within your design. Liberate me had came across somewhat more symbolic which had eluded me at first glance. It is of course set with high contrast colors and a striking sense of contradicting emotion. Closed eye tears with a smile loomed over by red. Quietly loud would be the term. Do keep up the good work now.
Yeah, I've thought about it for a few days, it'd probably be a good monthly benchmark to have these up in specific points in the gallery.
I'd had put a lot of... thought into creating Liberate me, mostly due to the one nagging question I have for myself. What do "I" want. And from that thought, I wondered about "need" and the elimination thereof.
Thank you for your brilliant breakdown of my work, it's refreshing to finally hear what someone else has to say about a piece : D
