As someone that's been bitching about Mewtwo and Smash for 6 years, 2 months, and 26 days, I disagree.

It's true that neither Lucario nor Greninja should be in Smash OVER Mewtwo - if Mewtwo is in then it's not an issue for either one of them to have a spot. But as far as popularity goes...hell, let's look at every other Pokemon confirmed to be in right now.

Pikachu has always been the face of the franchise for the young kids, and is clearly popular enough to warrant his spot.
Charizard - other than Mewtwo - was the face of the franchise for the older gamers during the 1st generation. I see no issue with him having a spot of his own.
Lucario - ...as much as it pains me to say this he's equally as popular as Mewtwo right now, while he only has one movie to Mewtwo's three, they are forcing him down players' throats in the games and it's working. XY straight-up giving the player a Lucario and using him in the tutorial to teach Mega Evolution, plus that fucking giant statue of him in that one place (I forget where, I never played the games because I'm still boycotting because of Brawl, I just know it exists because people told me about it)...you could run into non-Pokemon fans and show them a picture of Mewtwo and of Lucario and they'd probably be able to identify them both.

Greninja...only part of the most recent generation, no movies, no mass of merchandise, he's not pulling gamers into the series like Mewtwo or ANY of the above. I get that he's ridiculously popular over in Japan during his fad stage - much as Jigglypuff is based on the one in the anime with the marker. Neither Jigglypuff nor Greninja should be in over Mewtwo, and if it takes cutting Jigglypuf to get Mewtwo in then I really hope they do what they need to do. But to go back to your initial thought...while Lucario shouldn't be in over Mewtwo, Greninja REALLY shouldn't be in over him.

I do know where the statue is, though I don't know if you want to know since you're boycotting. Though I never do anything with that Lucario since I have my own in both games, caught as a Riolu. I just remove the mega stone to give to my own, then I permanently box it. I would rather use my own, one I raised from a Riolu, than one I was given.

I do agree with you, though. Greninja shouldn't be in over Mewtwo, and despite actually liking mine in Y, he's pretty good, I don't like the Greninja and Mewtwo pics I've seen around as they seem to be rubbing in the fact that Greninja is in Super Smash Brothers and Mewtwo isn't. Those are annoying me a bit. However....... this one is an exception. I don't hate this picture. I really like it.

Charizard was my first favorite, since I first got into Pokémon after it came to the states, till Mewtwo took that spot, but even now, it's still a favorite. I'm somewhat interested in the game due to Charizard actually being a playable character, and I love how the X mega evolution is the Final Smash, probably due to the Origin series, but I won't be fully interested in getting the game unless Mewtwo is confirmed to be in it. I only have a little interest.

Oh God, that greninja got a mouth!! Mewtwo looks pretty amazing as Bison. Always liked your cosplay drawings. The female greninja looks pretty cute and very nicely done too. Great stuff
