You know you're probably right on this. The Ghosts of the past laughing at those living in their "Future." My friend Jim worked as a "Professional" Audience member back in the late 1990s, and became a professional "Laugher." He would watch a monitor along with the Studio Audience and would be prompted to Snicker, snort, chortle, giggle, or all out bray for nine to twelve hours a session. I wonder if Jim's laugh tracks are still out there...

From what I understand, the canned laughter used in shows that arent taped in front of an audience is public domain tracks from the 50's, so no, probably not. They'd have to pay a license fee to use the audio from a show that recent.

Oh. That makes sense. I'll have to listen closely to the laugh tracks on "Big Bang Theroy" if I ever get to watch television again.
