Out of all my original characters, Tigura underwent the most change ahead of both Busara and Dziva. Since it's been 10 years since I created him, I decided to revisit the past some for you all to see the changes my tiger went through.
#0: Tigura began as an idea running around in my head, just like all my other characters. He was originally a cowardly, bumbling character that steps up at just the right time, basically your generic "sidekick character." But, I soon abandoned that when I first drew the tiger. I wanted a strong, almost rival character to foil with Mufasa. The tiger's personality was also an identical clone of Mufasa's; it wasn't until late #3 and #4 when he gains his own real persona.
#1: Tigura's very first look. Basic hair tuff, nothing special. But, he always had his most defining feature: his silver stripes. This version of Tigura became more of an adolescent, teenage look when I decide to give him more hair in later changes. I rarely used this look in old art, but at least I used it more than once, unlike the next one.
#2: At the time, I was really in over my head. Tigura's hair style was derived from both Aisha Clan Clan from Outlaw Star and the braids from Duo Maxwell of Gundam Wing fame. But, I just couldn't pull off drawing that hair, so I eventually abandoned this form in favor for #3. Now that I CAN draw this hair, I might reuse this style in some form in the future.
#3: I began to give Tigura a bit more personality by this time. See the sarcastic, unamused look on his face? Yep, that's what I'm thinking when I look at his hair in this design. How in the HELL did I think that looked good? o.O I used this design for a few works until I realized how much work went into drawing this peculiar hairstyle.
#4: Ever since I decided to give Tigura anime-esque hair, I went for the almost feminine, bishonen hairstyle. Out of all the old pieces I did, I used this one the most. This is a style where I alternated in between his hair still being braided and loose like how you see here. Tigura also gains more facial stripes in this form. Probably the most memorable trait of this style was that this was what Tigura looked like when I first started to draw adult works. So, fans who managed to find me here from WWOEC or Kito-Lion's "The Lionsex" will recognize this form.
#5: I decided to be a little realistic by this time, so Tigura finally lost his anime hair while in a quadraped state; the hair also kinda got in the way in my adult art, so that was also a reason. Tigura gained thicker, mane-like fur by this style. It was also here when I decided to separate my characters from the Lion King universe and give them their own world and story, a change for the better, I think.
#6: Finally, here's what Tigura looks like presently! In terms of physical design, he isn't different from #5 at all. But, I wanted my characters to not represent the TLK style anymore. So, for Tigura, his entire face is more based on a real tiger's. He is now given head stripes that look like the Japanese character for "king."
10 years, six unique looks.

Well, to tell the truth, I haven't totally scrapped the hair. In accordance to the story I made for my characters, they'll assume a human form or "illusion" ala Wolf's Rain to walk amongst humanity in secret. I plan to have Tigura have his hair back when I finally settle with a human design.
