Heh...well the bridge I had Elkit use as a reference has been abandoned sense the early 60s...so no train would cross anytime soon...nor could one cross it really.

Well... I guess they're safe crossing it; the express is about fifty-nine years late...

Glad ya liked it. And yep....this was inspired by an abandoned bridge along a section of railroad known as "The Rat Hole" that was shut down in 1961...so not quite 59 years...but not a bad estimate.

before they built rolins dam near colfax california, the bear river bridge of the nevada county narrow gauge railway stood in the same place. the rails had been pulled up for the war effort at the beginning of world war two, but the steel bridge, with nothing but the rotting ties to walk on, was still standing well into the early 1960s, before it was pulled down to build the dam. it was it was several hundred feet long, and 80 feet down looked like forever. and of course high school kids would challange each other to walk all the way across it.

other then there being no rails on top, and the ties further apart and in not so good shape, this image reminds me of it. pretty much the same sort of setting.
