The Elderist Clans practice Dark Mysticism, using the Malevolent Spirits in combat. It is the strongest of all the types of mysticism, and their clans are very warlike, valuing mystical strength very highly and casting out those without mystical talent regularly. Yet they wield this power in a calculated and precise state of mind, maintaining control at all times. They refuse to let themselves panic or be overcome by their emotions, even unto death; for if they die, however it happens they want to be at peace with themselves - no regrets, sorrows, or worries that might consume them, and in turn, to become a Malevolent Spirit upon death. To pass on without any chains holding you to the world - that is their ideal. Yet their funerals are very solemn and morose, as the other Elderists mourn the loss of their friend or family member.
Though generally suspicious of outsiders and holding their clan members to high standards, they are not incapable of showing emotion. They have artists like any other clan, are protective of their loved ones, and will not back down from a threat to their clan. This has prolonged the feud between them and the Purist Clan, as they make endless revenge strikes to pay back the lives taken from them.
Their musicians in particular are renowned far and wide, even in Malgraan worlds, possessing a stronger ability than most other clans to evoke emotions within the listeners of their music. Because they pay little attention to matters outside their clan, their clans are extremely close-knit, and their members are always willing to put themselves in harm's way for each other.
Their jewelry tends to use black or dark grey steel, set with purple or black gemstones. They each have a ring or bracelet at the very least, and can add headpieces, earrings, or necklaces. They are the only clan that wears solid collars.
Wood is a rather precious resource on Vhanarr. There are few trees and they tend to be in valleys and sheltered areas. However, there are a number of underwater plants which can provide wood, which is where the Balloh get most of it from; however, this gives the wood a very dark color, as can be seen in this picture and several others.
There's no shortage of water, at least, since there's plenty of frozen water around and Vhanarr is completely free of pollution. There's a lot of space, but it's usually a matter of location for clans looking to move or split; they need to have food sources nearby.
There may be additional resources, primarily mining spots for jewels, hot springs, or exceptionally defensible locations like plateaus. Clans generally don't move unless forced out of a location by weather, predators, other clans, or loss of a food supply.
Race and characters belong to me.
