We've had Atka, the bald eagle at "http://www.horizonwings.org" for a few years, during which he has transformed quite majestically from a nearly completely brown young bird to a sub-adult with more and more light feathers on the head and tail and a lightening bill. Today, he looks quite different from how he looks on this feather. Atka unfortunately has permanent injuries which prevent him from being released to the wild, so he has been going through training to become an educational bird at Horizon Wings. He had his first public debut yesterday, and he will continue to go to programs around Connecticut to teach people about eagles and how we can help protect them.

They're cute when they still have that jeuvy look x'D

Also is the price any different if we provide the feathers (I have a cockatoo with some white, broad tail fathers)

Generally I don't if it's turkey feathers, but if it's specific feathers that I don't have on hand, I can offer a slight discount :) How long are the feathers from quill to tip?

I will have to double check. I sometimes collect what I can, like the neat yellow curved crest feathers. I have older tail feathers.. but I'd rather use newer ones for something like this. My guess is that they are about 6 inches

I forget they have that hint of yellow on one half. I found this image on Google of a feather, funny enough Nambroth is the artist, but it shows the feather's shape and color

Ah ok! Those are a lot smaller than I've worked on before, but I can certainly paint on them. My prices are based mostly on size, so something like a single tail feather would be $50 or $60. The feathers need to be stiff, like a tail feather, so a curved crest feather probably wouldn't work.

I love baby balds so much! They always seem to have giant beaks before the color change haha.

We were saddened by the loss of the juvenile we were planning to use for education (our 2 adults are retired), his wing didn't heal properly enough and we felt it more humane to euthanize him instead of amputating the wing.
