Make It So, Engage, Etc. (2014 B-Day Gift #2 for Immy)
So halfway through making the animation for
NX-42's birthday I decided to make, I suddenly had a realization that there WAS something Immy had been into recently, and that was his binge into the Star Trek franchise, watching all the important stuff from TOS to the Abrams reboot (being currently near the end of TNG). As I myself have sort of binged as well lately, I decided I'd do another piece, this one, as a second thingy to continue the spirit of my birthday gift tradition theme deal.
So here's just him, me, and some of his and my characters cosplaying basically on the Enterprise-D bridge. Immy prefers TOS, but I felt like Matt being Troi and Joel being Worf and so forth fit better. Also Campy's breaking continuity because I didn't want to subject anyone to being Wesley... or, well, Ro I guess, but eh.

In TOS the shirt color was semi-varied with multiple people (even some in command) having red or gold shirts. This was confusing but TNG actually clarified this later
Red - Command chain - People in Red uniform were commanders, admirals, and high-ranking officials. They had command experience and thus got these shirts. Now the red shirt is for anybody new or wanting the more challenging posts, like being a helmsman or bridge officer in general
Gold - Engineering and Security - These refer to people who are more military trained and minded, typically security but engineers also wear it because they have the secondary position as back-up security people. Kirk was originally a Security officer before becoming Captain and kept his gold uniform as a reminder and keepsake. Typically Gold shirts stop at Lieutenant or the rare Lt. Commander, but they typically switch to Reds after that to continue rising in ranks with the hope of becoming a Captain
Blue - Science and Medical - Fairly self explanatory, these are the scientific people on board. They have no official ranks under most normal circumstances, but under other circumstances can be above captain rank and even take command. They have the most in depth training and knowledge of ship systems, but as previously stated, are rank-less which allows them do drift from post to post without breaking any lines of command and minimal paperwork. Rank of medical or science officers is only placed if the posting is going to be a minimum of 1 year in length

So I'm actually currently on a Star Trek binge myself.
Change Campy's and Joel's uniforms to red, and you wouldn't be breaking continuity as much (Gayordie wore red and drove the ship in season one. So did Whaaarf, but he took over the suicidally unergonomic position in the back for the last few episodes of season one, after Russia Yar died. The uniforms didn't have collars, and Number Two didn't have a beard during that time, but seeing that Pucard isn't bald, and that Star Trek cosplay traditionally suffers from horribly mismatched costumes anyway, that's really a minor point).
Or you could have placed Campy at the rightmost of the stations in the back (which he did use very often after being promoted to chief technobabbleer), and put Corpsy in the driver's seat (they did die a lot in that seat, didn't they?)

Wussley wasn't there for half of the show. Put anyone in that seat in uniform, and they're very definitely not him.
And the costume mismatch was worst in TNG after season 2, when they were veeery slowly updating the uniforms by clumsily refitting the old ones (the new ones for the main characters had the zipper in the back, the old ones (before and after refit) very visibly had the zipper in front). The colors between old and new also didn't match, especially the gold uniforms.
