Have you ever found something
That you didn't even know you're looking for?
An answer
Though you didn't hear the question
When the plane is shaking violently
You wonder will the sky change into heaven
And if all fails
Who is in your last thought then?
Tell me
Who is in your heart now
When Leonard Cohen is singing "Hallelujah"
Who is in your heart now
All your friends and foes, they thought they knew ya
But look who's in your heart now
You scared yourself
You are all of a doodah

So my long-time watchers know that a while ago, I did a redesign of some of my favorite insect OC's

For those who REALLY know me, you might've seen the image I did where I had these two BREAK UP, still in their original designs. I took it down because I found it kind of depressing.
But ever since re-designing them, I've always felt that there was still this alternate timeline where they broke up, early grey is still dead, and Guy was much more sour. And I always felt bad leaving things off the way they were. And tonight the mood just struck me, and I wanted to draw them coming back together. I didn't want them to be separated in my head anymore. Even if I don't draw them as much. (though I did kinda merge their classic and new designs here)
oh and if it's not entirely clear, they're making half-hearts with the their hands in panels #7 and #9
AND STORYWISE, Guy has kinda been off the radar for a while, trying being single, dating around, bouncing around occupations and attempting to find some purpose in his life. He'd broken up with Jazz because he felt that he wasn't going anywhere in life. And that it would take more than just cleaning up, to him it meant that he needed to reset his entire life outlook. Which meant getting a fresh start elsewhere.
Naturally, Jazz is devastated and hasn't dealt with it well. Cammie's done her best to console her, but it just kinda put even MORE of a rift in their relationship. However, this scene happens when Guy realizes that he's been trying too hard to find purpose or meaning in his life, when there's someone who always gave him that to begin with. So he goes back to repair the damage he caused when he left, and remember that this is where he's been needed all along.
i know, there's so much romantic drama cheese that you could run a taco-bell with it

As someone who has fallen in love multiple times in my life, I have fantasized often about alternate timelines in real life where I get back with each one. There was always an unanswered "if" I felt bad turning my back on. This song choice, imagery, and context for the piece all just fits right with how it speaks. It's not sappy because it is sweet, but kind of like the Phone Call in Requiem for a Dream, it's an expression of hope.
But it is just enough to finish the stories we will never get to tell.
