The Purist Clans practice Light Mysticism, manipulating Benevolent spirits to cause harm or to heal as the situation desires. While they are generally peaceful, they are quick to anger and can be overcome by fanatical zeal easily. They have kept up a feud against the Elderist Clan ever since the split of the clans, hundreds of years ago.
While fierce towards their enemies, Purists are (generally) friendly to all others. They keep in touch with surrounding Naturist settlements and trade with them, and when they have the resources to do so, they will usually take in mystically incapable Balloh who have been cast out of their home clans. The Purist Clan also is known as the first of the clans to make contact with the Malgraan after they landed on Vhanarr.
In their own camps, they like to socialize, and practice their arts for others to enjoy, including music, dancing, and storytelling. They hold frequent celebrations for births, new mystics, and even for deaths - their funerals are joyous celebrations to remember all the good that the deceased Purist did during their life, and the positive impact they had on everyone around them.
Each of the Balloh clans has their own particular style of jewelry. For the Purists, they mostly use gold and silver, with yellow and white gemstones. Each one will have at least a necklace or earring, and some will have bracelets, rings, or headpieces as they desire. They are the only clan that wears anklets.
The Purists are able to keep their clan areas lit with gems that have had simple Light mysticism enchantments woven on them to get them to cast light. They must be frequently recharged but it helps, especially at the edges of camps, to illuminate their surroundings.
I commissioned a series of pictures to show each of the different Balloh clans, and this is the first. not-fun was very helpful on this as I had some detailed instructions on the exact jewelry styles and lots of little details, plus there were actual backgrounds this time.
It's wonderful to see them brought to life like this, especially as they did a good job of making each one look different than the others around it, a difficult task when they do, essentially, look all the same (at least to us; I'm sure they have no trouble telling each other apart).
Fortunately, it's also not the first time the artist has drawn dancing hexapeds.
Also, these have made awesome desktop wallpapers.
Race and characters belong to me.
