(Potential minor spoilers ahead!)


Kelaan is the last recruitable character. The Great Naturist of Fire is conspicuously missing from the lineup; the only Fire Naturist you get is Harlan, who holds a necklace he refuses to wear and talks about a 'final task' given to him. It shouldn't take much to put two and two together and figure out why Asharia isn't recruitable.

While I won't give exact details as it would be major spoilers, I still wanted to get a picture of her to round out the set.

I've used a couple different naming conventions in different campaigns. In my original one set on Chyrus, characters would use accented letters on occasion. This worked well enough, but it was a pain in the ass to type them out and players would frequently just omit them and use normal letters instead, so I swore off accented letters in tabletop games in the future.

Instead, I went with something a bit simpler for SI. The Balloh don't use hard consonants in their names - their language is much like that too, and they reserve hard consonants for words about unpleasant/undesirable things, with Kallors being a prime example.

The Malgraan have two potential ones. The first involves double letters to lengthen a particular letter sound, with their own species name being an obvious example. The second convention involves putting an apostrophe in a name to force a glottal stop, essentially a brief pause in the middle of the word. Mesi'nah, Ro'ben, Gre'mor, and so on.

They have a very minor significance in that traditionally, double-letter names are associated with Armarrah and the person is believed to be closer to nature; apostrophe names are associate with Tali'kah and the person is believed to be closer to technology. It's nothing more than a superstition that most people just ignore, however; the naming convention still remains.

And like many conventions, there are occasional violations of it for exotic names or just some variation, such as with Kalthas or Walford. It's simply a suggestion, and a way to have an over-arching theme with names that doesn't involve something stupid like every name starting with the same letter or ending with the same suffix.
