"I've seen many soldiers in my time, from green recruits to veterans. I've seen your work and I see potential. You will become great - if you are willing to put in the effort to do so."
General Nor'banus is one of the most respected figures in the military. In addition to being a decorated veteran, he is the head of the Malgarian Guardians, defenders of the homeworld; he owns the Ta'laria Military Academy where the player character received their training; and he is one of the two heads of the Combat Branch (the other being Admiral Kelaan).
Under Nor'banus's leadership, Malgaria has known total peace from outside threats for decades. While the level of protection the homeworld has is prohibitively expensive to provide to the frontier as well, a network of automated and manned orbital defenses and rapid-response teams makes quick work of anything that so much as attempts to violate the space around the Malgraan's home planet. He drills a sense of duty and vigilance into his soldiers hard, because nothing less is acceptable for the billions of lives they are charged with protecting.
Full Name: Nor'banus Sal'merin
Joins As: Juggernaut, Level 20+18 / Senior General
Homeworld: Malgaria
Age: 52
Likes: Impenetrable defenses, vigilance, trust between soldiers, fireworks
Dislikes: Laziness, carelessness, discord between soldiers, spicy food
Dream: To retire with his perfect homeworld defense record intact
Nor'banus is the form of the campaign's book-ends. He shows up at the very beginning of the game to run the player through the tutorial, evaluating them as having great potential, and getting them their beginning posting in order to start them off on something they can prove themselves with. Some time later, at the end of the campaign, he shows up again - when the player has caught up to him, and can see just how far they've come from when his presence in the tutorial with ridonkulous stats was possibly intimidating, and now, so much later, they're on par with him. (RNG permitting)
His design was fun too, even if I appreciate that the linework was intensely difficult. As a promoted Guard, he has even heavier armor, modeled after full riot gear. The shield serves the same purpose as before, but it's bigger, and more of his body is covered, save for the joints which need mobility. Throw in a massive machinegun too, and I'm very pleased with how his design came out. He truly looks like a force to be feared.
Character belongs to me.

Kinetic-projectile weapons, same as present-day Earth. No laser beams here. Most prototypes produced so far are too encumbered by their energy source to be of much use and simply hurling a solid mass of metal is a far easier weapon.
Large ships dedicated to deep space combat may have low-yield nuclear missiles, as conventional missiles won't explode in space - ignition can't occur in a vaccuum. But mass drivers of various sizes and configurations are the primary space weapon.
Ground forces rely on guns of various types. Shotguns, rifles, pistols, you name it. Due to the Malgraan being quadrupeds, most guns are made to be used one-handed. If not, they will come with a bipod or tripod to steady the gun as it would be too difficult to use both hands to steady it.
