My friend caught them all, including most of the alternate form pokemon... except Spinda... there are like 200 'forms' of Spinda...

I got the certificate in Pokemon Red for catching all 151 pokemon. That was enough for me. Now I put down each game once I've beaten the elite 4, caught all the legendaries, and finished up any other post-game side quests.

Yeah, there's no real reason now...Unless you like shinies, then completing the dex will give you a shiny charm, which doubles your chance of getting a shiny--and since each Dex entry now has a slot for a shiny form...well.

Yeah. I know, but there are those who do Masuda method too, and with a shiny charm it takes it down from 1048 to something like 500 or something like that for this generation? Those who IV breed prefer that method anyway.

Friend Safari takes it even lower than that, from what I've heard, but I don't have the number off the top of my head.

Nah, Friend Safari doesn't have it that low, the reason the chances are increased there is because you can almost do a chain there, with only one or two other mobs to encounter, so instead of something like 5000 battles for a random shiny, it's cut down to about 200 or so.

Once you have a well balanced team there is no real reason to catch any more and just focus on getting them maxed out.

I used a gameshark to cheat and catch all the pokemon in pokemon blue. All I got was some dumb certificate. Then did the same thing in silver. and once again only got some dumb certificate. To me, it's not even worth the time it takes to enter in the cheat codes.

I'm still on Generation 3 simply because it was the latest generation that had decent ROM hacking tools like AdvancedMap, Overworld Editor, and Tile Molester.

No bonus comic? But there are so many things you could have done! You could have had Immy tied to a chair with the Pokemon Professors all around him with like blunt weapons being all mafia-style "so I hear you don't wanna catch 'em all ...", or even have a Pokedex with the red eye like HAL from Space Odyssey, "I can't let you not catch 'em all Dave ... I mean Immy."

Actually if you catch them all you get the shiny charm which ups your chances of encountering shiny pokemon. along with this egg charm thing that makes eyes appearing in the day care more frequent.

Good luck on getting porygon z and event pokemon. even the gtc doesn't have them witch is why they are the only ones missing from my pokedex
