"Many people underestimate the Naturists of Wind. We have turned our backs on the needless fighting and focused instead on trade, and more of our clan members leave Vhanarr than all other clans combined. But if you think we have forgotten how to fight - then prepare yourself to learn otherwise!"
The Great Naturist of Wind has sent proverbial winds of change across Vhanarr. A quiet and pacifistic Balloh, she was named successor by the previous Great Naturist of Wind who desired peace but had no vision for it themselves. Wyraenia is not lacking in mystical strength, but simply has more peaceful intentions, and so encouraged the clans under her command to begin trading freely, even with other Naturists, the Purists, and the Elderists. They broke off some of their conflicts with other clans and in a few cases relocated to more remote locations, and focused more on internal development, growing in size. More Wind Naturists began to leave Vhanarr with the intent to come back and use what they learned among the Malgraan to help their clan.
Yet Wyraenia is not to be trifled with. When outside danger threatened her clans, rather than hiding, she instead grew determined and fierce, leading her clan into battle. In another break in tradition, both she and her spirit partner are pregnant - normally, the Great Mystics avoid becoming pregnant so that they may fight at their full potential, but she believes strongly enough in her pacifism that she had no such desires. She is still only a month into it, and so will not be physically encumbered for some time, but knows that she has more than one life resting on her actions - in addition to her desire to protect her spirit partner.
Full Name: Wyraenia of Clan Manaryss
Joins As: High Naturist, Level 20+4 / Unenlisted
Homeworld: Vhanarr
Age: 77
Likes: Peace, her spirit partner, children, trade, shellfish
Dislikes: Conflict, hostility, resistance to change, cephalopods (they're chewy!)
Dream: To set up a neutral trading settlements where all clans are welcome
Pronounced "why-ray-knee-uh", by the way.
Just because Vhanarr is embroiled in inter-clan conflict doesn't mean that everyone wants it to be that way. Many Balloh flee Vhanarr to get away from the danger and the clan wars, in addition to those leaving to learn more or because they lost their homes or were cast out of their clans. It used to be much worse; now it is mostly the feud between the Purists and Elderists, plus a couple of old grudges between certain neighboring clans of various types who may have infringed on each others' hunting grounds or mines or suchlike.
However, the Naturists of Wind have been trying to take it beyond the neutral point of "That part of the tundra is yours, this one is ours, let's just ignore each other". This may have been partly inspired by Wyraenia and other Wind Naturist leaders reading up on the history of the Malgraan - where one of the disparate tribes began unifying others through trade and diplomacy in order to build an unstoppable force that crushed the resistance of all the remaining tribes on the continent. However, it seems they have no desire to get into the second part and just want to get some peaceful relations going in order to trade - as each clan can provide goods and services to the others that they don't have.
Whether this will succeed or not is yet to be seen, and is hampered by the "dead zones" between Purist and Elderist clans where it is far too hazardous for traders to travel. But things are, at least, starting to improve; even though the Malgraan have tried very hard not to disrupt life on Vhanarr, they are having an influence on it nonetheless.
Character belongs to me.
