Finished sketch commission from Darlenewolfen to Lukoi.
I must say that this sketch worked out nicely from its draft stage; I am really happy with the pose and overall look of the sketch. I did use a reference for the raven parts of Jager's raven form. (Darlenewolfen's own character)
The draft had Lukoi's left foot showing over the tail, but I decided to pull the tail forward and hide it since it kinda looked awkward.

My word... This is just incredibly awesome! And I'm not just saying that because he looks a bit like a cousin to Blaits. I'm really impressed with the wings on this bad boy. Good form and a realistic look to them. The face was not over looked either though, and the face is always important for a character. I can say, even for a male, there is something beautiful about his face. It's strong and fearsome, yet still a bit calm and focused. Also, like you said, the pose is dynamic in it's own right. On top of that, the anatomy to me seems to be spot on. You really gave him a stolid build that's well structured... if even hidden a bit by those thick patches of fur ^__~ Lastly, it's too bad there's not more background to this piece, but what you have in the fore/mid ground area helps to set the mood for this piece. A bit dark, but carrying a small pack of power.
This is one to be admired as well as fav'ed... well... at least that's what I'm doing with it.
Thanks for sharing this one with us ^__^

I really love the lighting and shading off the fur. The high contrasts throughout the piece emphasize the almost dramatic pose. There is a certain regalness that just pours out of the character; a sense of control, dominance. I really like this picture because it's simple in its colors (yay for graphite!), yet it's so interesting and beautiful with the shading, the sharp highlights and deep shadows, the calmness of the figures... It's hard to explain, but it's such a lovely picture :D
