Zane and Ollie have always been good friends ever since childhood. After-school, they would go to each other's house to play Super Nintendo or Sega Genesis or Game Boy or watch afternoon cartoons. Poor Ollie could never beat Zane at 2-player Puzzle Battle, even to this day. This was alright, because Ollie would wallop Zane at football games.
Here, Zane is about 10-11 and Ollie is 8-9. Much care was taken to research 1990's era clothes and culture. Being a child of the 90s myself, this brought me way back. =D Zane's fanny pack is the same one he wears today. He's quite a sentimental bunny.

I've often wondered this too. Everything so far took place in real time, from Zane's parents in the 70s, this pic in the 90s, Butch's college years in the 00's, and today's events. This would imply that in the future, everyone will be older too. Then again, this is all fantasy, and I can make their current age and appearance stretch out as long as I want. =3
In the 1990s, you actually had to visit your friends' homes to play video games with 'em - none of this online stuff.
