The robins started to come back last week, when everything was still covered with snow and ice. The poor little buggers looked extremely miserable.

I remembered, from when I was a young kid, a cute little song by Raffi Cavoukian (i.e. the same artist that did "Bananaphone"), about a robin in the rain. Somehow, I couldn't see Raffi being able to romanticise these sad and sorry fellows.

Not only did they have nothing to eat, the grackles and starlings were beating them up. Poor robins. :P
