i'm not mathamatically minded so i can't tell you exactly how it works, but there's actually like a very basic formula for how to solve them rapidly. once you know the formula it all comes down to how quickly you can twist the damn thing around i guess? typically math geeks are real good at memorizing the formula and then solving it immediately but they depend on you not knowing what that formula exists for it to look super impressive.
