Well here's a project that took a while to complete, but I'm quite pleased with the outcome. The pencil work took about 2 days with corrections and the ink work took about 6 hours, maybe a bit more.
Let me know what you think about my pretty, black bird.

I like it. The ink detail is astounding and I rather like the pose (a bit more original than the side-view birds you usually see). The shading and wing structure is pretty damn nice too
My only crit is that the eye placement looks a bit off, but other than that? A+ work, man!

Thanks so much for saying so! That means a lot to me. The raven seems to be a favorite, both in mythos and real life.
I was inspired to draw this fellow because I saw one (raven) strolling early in the morning in the parking lot where I worked, . He was taking his time, not worried, not nervous; walking nonchalantly big as life (cause the world is his oyster and he's free to go anywhere). No doubt he was looking for some dainty breakfast morsels. __and most regal and noble bird.

Makes sense. The renaissance sculptors said they could see the finished product inside the block of marble.
Seems like it will be a good week for it, light duty at work until I can build up a head of steam again. Perhaps I can see to it that a crocodile and/or bird dominates and humiliates something before too long.

Simply smashing, mate. You keep getting better and better. Amazing detail on the wings. Ravens truly are beautiful and amazing birds. You've captured just that. Your pen creates life on paper, a true art to be proud of. It looks as if he's about to take off right out if the page to go anywhere he pleases. I'd check the orignal to make sure he hasn't done just that!
