It's sort of weird to explain the idea of intimacy in a public space. But when the museum floor is sparse, and you can walk up to and touch an amazing machine like a jet? Something someone flew, was a part of, had a relationship with, it doesn't feel so weird. It just sort of happens. All of a sudden the objects feel more real. There's no disconnect like when things are stuck behind a barrier or a glass case.

I've been near Pensacola several times and every time extenuating circumstances have forced me to not be able to go to the museum.
Someday I'll be able to grope their F-4, RF-4, Dauntless, Crusader, and Bronco :v
That's just the ones I remember they have because I really wanna see them, but I'm sure they've got plenty other airframes I'd really need to see.
