Before anyone asks, yes it was influenced by Roger Dean's covers for Yes. I don't think he ever used this spiral pattern for the planetary fragments though. The work was mainly done with a ball point pen, but the work is probably not as rough looking as this. The scan was made from a reproduction on a fanzine's cover, rather than from the art. (I've used Photoshop to smooth it out a bit though.) I seem to recall that the spaceship might have been a late addtion, literally glued on top of a less satisfactory spaceship.
