Some side views of aircraft I've seen in my A&K-1 dreams recently. While it is true that every air force on Earth wishes it could send the latest and best available to fight alien invaders, the truth is that everything that is available is being thrown at the invaders.
This means that some older and aircraft and equipment of lower performance specifications often have to carry on yeoman's duty in the defense of earth. This means everything from advanced trainers being pressed into light attack roles to older aircraft being refitted with more modern equipment to give them a fighting chance against the invaders.
While their history has not mirrored ours exactly, certain technology and design issues forced projects down paths that followed real world production aircraft. that and I guy sleeping and dreaming this has had his head stuffed with aircraft designs for decades and it has had an effect.

It was given a much larger radar to assist in BVR operations. Also some are setup, this is how I saw them in the dream, to serve as deep interdiction/ launch platforms for small cruise/ stanoff missile with nuclear capabilties. Sort of like the Mirage 2000N's are in our world.
I do wonder what would happen in a true defence *for its life* type of situation would produce in this day and age. I could only it would crank everything up like in WWII but you would need something much more standerized and much less complex to do that *unlike the F fighters of the US army now* Nice looking side views!
It is a real probelm for Earth. In fact I had dream where the main body of it was meeting of the US. Presidental Cabinet with members of the United Earth Defense Force command staff. That is the umbrella organization that is in theory suppose to be coordinating and providing liason sevices to all of Earth's Goverment Forces.
One of the things that came out of the meeting is that Earth is facing the dual problem that the Birdies technology is just good enough that only the very best available technology that Earth has can meet them head to head and have a high chance of sucess. At the same time global demand for armaments is putting excessive demands on the ability of manufacturersto make enough high quality material to provide true "global protection". Even with most of the Earth's economies on wartime footing.
Their have been efforts to streamline production and remove unnecessary features from existing weapon designs while developing new "simpler to make" systems, but at the moment they are having a rash of bad air-to-air missiles that are losing lock-on or failing to detonate on impact. Needless to say the pilots are screaming bloody murder about it! Also attempts to standardize around common systems has been difficult since in some ways the West and East purposely used other standards to discourage cross-mingling of technlogies.
Finally this is war being truly fought on a global scale. Yes there frontlines around Birdies strongholds, but the enemy is in orbit and can drop forces anywhere on the planet within a couple hours if they desire. This means all major urban areas have to possess dedicated defense forces to provide protection against such attacks. The one thing that is working to Earth's advantage is that despite the Birdies desire and need to conquer earth they are very concerned with not trashing the planet. They need it intact so they have not resorted to nuking the place from orbit. But that may change soon. Sorry if this post is a bit long!

I'm going to be unnecessarily picky here and state that air-to-air missiles rarely "detonate on impact" because they typically detonate via proximity fuze. They have an impact fuze for the sake of redundancy (and because an impact fuze is easy to add, cheap, and light weight) but they are rarely used. Its just so much easier to get within ~10 meters or so than to actually hitting an aircraft. Especially if there is such a huge technology gap.
That would be a pretty impressive drop in capability since the detonators are one of the less complex parts of a missile. Considering the difference in technology losing a lock is believable enough, but a failure to detonate would be much more difficult to imagine. Especially on a wide-scale. Given the 80-90% kill ratio of current gen missiles, even "simpler" missiles would have to make a rathe significant performance drop.
Yes its overly picky, but thats me. :)

Top one definitely looks very Alpha jet to me. That would correlate with your thoughts that everything is 'pressed into service' though, as they're mainly trainers with secondary ground attack/defence capabilities. Not to mention not really maintenance intensive (IIRC). Middle one does look very early Sukhoi too, and I'm definitely getting some Mirage from the bottom.
Whichever and whatever they are, they're all nice designs, and great linework. I'd love to know more about the storyline too, it's enticing to me.

Lessee what were my first thoughts about it :
1/ Alpha Jet / Harrier / Yak 130 (and even the Jaguar for the air intake, though they are not really alike o.0 ), though the T-shapped empennage immediatly made me think it was not a fighter I knew.
2/ LOL no need to say :)
3/ Mirage with some undefiny (russian ?) element for the canopy.
Love your designs :) :)

Yeah it looks like a merger of the Sukhoi Su-7 and the Mig-19. I know that the China, India, Pakistan, Angola are still flying in ground attack role and the Isarelis have been offering upgrade kits to give the pilots a better chance for survival in combat. Also they've had license built Martin-Baker zero-zero ejection seats installed to them.
