A small story in my head regarding a burnt tree and the history behind it. The tree was considered a sacred landmark for the people of the town. When war came, one person set fire to the tree in order to save the towns people. During the fight he's flung forward. He finds that the town survived, and that the tree slow down the approaching army just enough for the towns people to take up arms to defeat them. However he is considered a villain for destroying the tree, even though it meant saving the town. Most people don't know about what happened.
